We’ve been hoping for rain…it was quite dry. Now it won’t stop, but rain on our farm produces good grass…and that’s essentially our crop. We raise grass and harvest it with our cattle. So as the song says “Rain is a Good Thing”.
The grass is a brilliant been and the trees are just about in full leaf. Spring in Blue Grass, like all the seasons, is a special time of year.
One of the great gifts of our location is a clear, unrestricted view of the night sky. Earlier this month the once in a lifetime dance of Jupiter and Venus was spectacular.
It’s been unusually warm in the mountains this winter. JR at the post office stated last week “we will pay for this warm weather”.
Mother nature extracted payment last night with blowing snow, 50+ MPH winds, 9 degrees. The horses we’re reluctant to leave the barn this AM, and Buddy (our lab) gave me the “I don’t think so” look when it was time to go outside.
So today will be a quiet winter Sunday in most of Blue Grass. We attended church last night, so after the farm chores are finished, today’s agenda includes curling up with a good book, followed by an afternoon nap.

Since opening, we have tried to make the financial transaction of reservations painless and easy for our guests. In order to make the reservation process easier, we are making some changes.
In a few days we will be going online with an automated reservation system that will include the ability to pay via credit card. Advance reservations can still be paid via check, but short notice stays will require a credit card payment.
The new system will allow immediate booking, payment, and reservation confirmation. Please let us know should you encounter any problems as we transition to our new system.
Reports of snow starting tomorrow. Winter has been very mild so far this year, however Highlander’s know it will come.
Falling snow, windy, and cold…but the wood stove has our house toasty. Looks like Winter has finally arrived.
